A Delhi court today said that drug peddlers should be punished severely to curb its use by youngsters. The court said this while pronuncing a punishment of 5 years to the youth, caught having 520 gms of cannabis, a severe drug Additional Sessions Judge Ramesh Kumar said, the consumption of narcotics by young generation in the society can be curbed only by restricting its circulation in the society. He said this can be only be done by imposing severe sentence on those found guilty of dealing in drugs. ASJ Kumar further added that circulation of the contraband in the society pollutes the mind of the young generation in the cities, particularly, in the metropolitan cities like Delhi. The judge also imposed a fine of 1 lakh rupees on the youth.
