Delhi Court grants bail to 3 MCD officials in alleged roles in corruption case

A Delhi court today granted bail to three MCD officials, arrested for their alleged roles in a corruption case involving award of a contract to a firm for upgrading the city's street lighting before the Commonwealth Games in 2010.Special CBI Judge Pradeep Chaddah released on bail MCD Superintendent Engineer D K Sugan, Executive Engineer O P Mahla and civic body's tender clerk Gurcharan Singh on a personal bond of Rs one lakh each along with one surety of the same amount.The three along with others have been accused of causing a loss of nearly Rs 1.43 crore to the exchequer in illegal award of the contract to Delhi-based firm, Sweka Powertech Engineers Pvt Ltd.
