Delhi Assembly passes budget for 2011-12

Delhi Assembly on Monday passed the budget for the year 2011-12 by voice vote. Delhi Chief Minister Mrs. Shiela Dikshit while replying to the budget in the House, announced exemptions of VAT on handlooms products on which 5 per cent VAT was proposed in the budget. She also announced increase in the amount of MLA LADS Fund from the present level of 2 crore rupees to 4 crore rupees, earlier 2.5 crore rupees had been proposed in the budget for the year 2011-12. Mrs Dikhit said that decision has been also taken to increase assistance for marriage of widow's daughter from twenty thousand rupees to 25 thousand rupees. She said that there has been massive increase in Plan Outlay for improvement of services in JJ cluster and for construction of houses for economically weaker section of the society.For this, 639 crore rupees has been allocated which was 125 crore rupees last year. Mr Dikshit said that the government is focussing towards social sector for which 13600 Crore rupees have been allocated which is 58 per cent of the total budget.
