Delhi airport ready for Haj pilgrims

Special arrangements have been put in place at the Indira Gandhi International airport for transit of Haj pilgrims of this season. Around 32,000 pilgrims are expected to go for Haj this year from IGI airport. The first batch will leave on the 29th of this month.

CEO of Delhi International Airport Ltd Prabhakara Rao on Saturday said, Terminal 2 will be used for Haj operations for the second consecutive year including for offering prayers by the pilgrims. Two airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines and NAS Air will be operating about 100 chartered operations to Jeddah and Medina for the pilgrims.

In a statement, the CEO said that keeping in mind the vital need for currency exchange for the pilgrims, they have set up foreign exchange counters operated by Thomas Cook. He said, specially trained traffic marshals along with Delhi Police and CISF personnel will be deployed to ensure smooth flow of traffic and security.

The pilgrims' return will begin from November 11 and continue till December 12.
