Delhi Acers notched up a thrilling 4-3 victory over Mumbai Rockets in the summit clash to clinch the Premier Badminton League title yesterday evening in New Delhi. In the first tie of the final game, Mumbai Rockets drew first blood as their mixed doubles pair registered an easy victory over Delhi Acers, giving them the initial lead.However, the lead lasted a while as in the second tie, Delhi's Tommy Sugiarto defeated Mumbai's H S Prannoy 13-15, 15-9, 15-9. The third tie a men's doubles match witnessed a close encounter where Delhi defeated Mumbai narrowly, thus giving them a 2 to 1 edge.China's Han Li, who had beaten World number two Saina Nehwal on Friday to take Mumbai into the finals, then notched up a 12-15, 15-8, 15-8 win over PC Thulasi in their Trump match to make it 3-2 in Mumbai's favour. In the decider game, which was Delhi's Trump match, saw Rajiv Ouseph recording an easy victory over RMV Gurusaidutt, making the score line 4-3 in favour of Delhi, as they lifted the coveted title.
