A delegation of Shiv Sena MPs led by Rahul Shewale today called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi and requested him to give classical language status to Marathi.<br />'' <br />'' Shewale who is also the floor leader of the party in Lok Sabha that apart from requesting the Union Home Minister to give classical language status to Marathi, the delegation also took up issues pertaining to the pride and development of Maharashtra.<br />'' <br />'' The Sena leader said Mr. Shah was positive on the demand and assured that soon Marathi will be given classical language status.<br />'' <br />'' In February this year, in order to get the Classical Language status to Marathi four thousand postcards were sent to the then President Ram Nath Kovind by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.<br />'' &nbsp;<br />'' Shewale is part of the Eknath Shinde-led faction of Shiv Sena who was recently appointed the floor leader of the saffron party in place of Vinayak Raut, an MP from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency.<br />'' <br />''Responding to queries that Aaditya Thackeray's &quot;Nishtha&quot; yatra is receiving good response from people in various parts of the state, Shewale remarked that Congress and NCP supporters are participating in the yatra as they have been directed by their leaders to do so.
