Delay in green nod, legal approvals stalling textile parks in states: Gangwar

Textile Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar today said, the process for establishment of textile parks are stuck in some states due to lack of environment clearance and legal approvals. <br/><br/>Addressing the state textile Ministers during the national conference in New Delhi, Mr Gangwar said the Scheme for Integrated Textiles Parks, STIP is an ambitious scheme and there is need a coordinated efforts from state governments to finish the project. <br/><br/>He also asked them to expedite the process for environmental and legal clearances for the completion of projects. Mr Gangwar said centre has already approved 72 parks and made various policy changes . Mr Gangwar informed that Rs 30,000 crore will be invested in the project, which has the capacity to generate around 5 lakh job opportunities in the country. <br/><br/>The Minister said the textile industry has good prospects for the economy and employment opportunities but the sector has been ignored for last so many years. Noting that there is plenty of scope in technical textile all over the country, he said the government has allotted 400 crore rupees for technical textile in the north east region. <br/><br/>The minister said the government will soon come-out with a revised Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme, TUFU, to provide sufficient fund for the modernization of powerloom sector. Mr Gangwar said under the present scheme the government has made an allocation of Rs 1520 crore for 2015-16 out of which around 882 crore have been disbursed.
