Defense minister Arun Jaitley today discussed various aspects of security situation with state chief minister Omar Abdullah in a meeting in Srinagar this afternoon.The situation on line of control, infiltration attempts and steps to strengthen peace in the state were discussed during the meeting. The state Chief Minister termed the meeting very productive and said that he raised certain critical issues with regard to financial position of the state with Mr Jaitley who is also holding the finance portfolio. The defense minister also had a meeting with state Governor N.N.Vohra at Raj bhawan and in this meeting besides overall situation , the arrangements for annual Amarnath Yatra were also discussed. Earlier , immediately after his arrival in Srinagar , the defense minister was briefed by senior army officers in Bamami bagh cantonment about overall security situation in the state.
