Defending champions Italy crashes out of FIFA WC

Defending champions Italy have crashed out of the 2010 FIFA World Cup after suffering a shock 2-3 defeat at the hands of Slovakia in a Group F match in Johannesburg. After a listless first half show, four-time champions Italy raised visions of a remarkable fight back after 0-2 down. But eventually failed to stay further in the tournament.Slovakia qualified for the second round by finishing second in the group with four points. Paraguay who played a goal-less draw against New Zealand in the other Group F encounter in Polokwane advanced to the Round Sixteen by topping the group with 5 points.In Group E, Japan beat Denmark 3-1 in Rustenburg and entered the round of sixteen. They finished second in the group with 6 points. The Netherlands who had already qualified for the next stage finished their engagements with an-all win record in the group. They beat Cameroon 2-1 at Cape Town. Netherlands who topped Group E will play Slovakia in the Second Round on Monday in Durban.Japan who finished second in Group E will play Paraguay on Tuesday in Pretoria.
