Defending champions India to face Britain in Johor Cup final

Defending champions India will take on Great Britain in the final of Men's Sultan of Johor Cup junior hockey tournament at Johor Bahru, Malaysia today. India would be defending the title for the third consecutive time this year. Great Britain has remained unbeaten in the tournament so far with three wins and two draws. India tops the table with 12 points from 4 wins and a single loss, that too to Great Britain earlier in the tournament. Sumit Kumar and Harmanpreet Singh with three goals each are the top scorers for India so far.India yesterday defeated Australia 1-0 in their last league match to enter the final of the tournament. The all-important goal came in the 42nd minute, when Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty stroke. Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu Sindhu will take on former world number one and reigning Olympic champion Li Xuerui of China in the final of Denmark Open Badminton championships today. Sindhu made it to her maiden Super Series final with a stunning upset victory over reigning world champion Carolina Marin of Spain in the semifinal yesterday. In the Super Series Premier event, at Odense Sports Park, the unseeded Indian beat the world number two and All England champion Marin 21-15, 18-21, 21-17. This was 20-year-old Hyderabadi's first win against Marin in their last four outings. Sindhu had never gone past the semifinals in the Super Series or Super Series Premier events.
