Defence ties on agenda, Antony to visit Riyadh

Defence Minister A K Antony will embark on a two-day visit to Riyadh from Monday. This is going to be the first-ever visit by an Indian Defence Minister to Saudi Arabia.

India and Saudi Arabia are all set to give a boost to their defence ties and understanding with discussion on areas of mutual benefits.

AIR correspondent reports in Riyadh that Antony will hold discussions with his counterpart Prince Salman-bin-Abdul Aziz Al-Saud besides meeting other senior government and political leaders.

The Defence Minister will also be interacting with the representatives of Indian community there.

Saudi Arabia is one of the largest suppliers of oil to India, which is one of the top trading partners and investor there.

Last year in February, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh undertook a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia.
