The Defence Ministry has ordered an inquiry into the alleged benefits extended to a private defence equipment manufacturing company. Talking to All India Radio, the Defence Spokesperson Mr. Sitanshu Kar said that the enquiry was ordered by the Defence Minister Mr. A. K. Antony this morning. He said that the chief of Army Staff General V. K. Singh will inquire into the matter and submit report to the Defence Minister on top priority basis.
It was alleged in a media report that the upgrades to the imagery interpretation capability critical to providing information on locations of enemy troops was compromised by flawed contract given to a private Indian company.
