Defence Minister Arun Jaitley is now in Srinagar on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Accompanied by Chief of Army Staff General Bikaram Singh, Mr. Jaitley was received by GOC Northern Command Lt. General Huda. The Defence Minister is being briefed about the over all situation in the State at Badami Bagh Cantt by senior Army officers.

During his maiden visit to the valley as Defence Minister, Mr. Jaitley will meet State Governor N. N. Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah later in the day. He is scheduled to visit some forward posts in North Kashmir tomorrow and will also Chair a meeting of unified headquarters in Srinagar before winding up his visit.
