Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to inaugurate 9th edition of biennial Defence Expo in Goa tomorrow

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will inaugurate the ninth edition of the biennial Defence Expo at Naqueri Quitol in Quepem Taluka of South Goa tomorrow. The preparations have been completed and the state Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has visited the sprawling venue provided by the Industrial Development Corporation of Goa and expressed satisfaction over the work carried out for hosting the international event. <br/><br/>Our correspondent reports that the Expo will be a great opportunity for importing and exporting nations of the defence equipment especially in the countries in South East Asian region. AIR correspondent in his report says that the ninth biennial Defence Expo will begin in Goa tomorrow. <br/><br/>The venue Naqueri Quitol in South Goa is bustling with various last minute activities by foreign and Indian defence production companies who will be putting up pavilions in the Expo. One thousand and fifty four companies from 47 countries will compete to sell their defence equipments including small arms, ammunition, guns, tanks, and various type of warfare machinery. Thousands of defence experts sellers and buyers from various countries have descended on south Goa today itself and especially from the south east Asian countries. The Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will inaugurate the four day event in the morning. <br/><br/>Apart from massive participation by the major public and private sector companies in India, Defence Research and Development Organisation -DRDO- will be participating in a big way. DRDO Pavilion will have the theme of "Rise of Futurism". DRDO's participation in this event will also have a live demo of Airborne Early Warning & Control System, Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, Arjun Main Battle Tank II & I, Wheeled Armoured Platform AKASH, Air Defence System, Pinaka the Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher System, state of art Radars, and other equipment.
