Defence Minister announces procurement of defence equipment from domestic manufacturers increased to 75% of total capital expenditure from 2023-24

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today announced that procurement of defence equipment from domestic manufacturers have been increased to 75 percent of total capital expenditure from 2023-24. Speaking at Bandhan and valedictory ceremony of Aero India in Bengaluru,  the Minister said this is a move towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat and added that the trust of government and society on defence industry is increasing.

He stressed that if the Indian defence industry has to move forward,   it is necessary to ensure domestic demand for products. Mr Singh said that Indian Defence industry has been strengthened during the Aero India 2023. He said, Aero India has shown to the entire world that new India's new defence sector is fully prepared to keep pace with the defence sector of the leading countries of the world. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was also present at the occasion.
