Government is promoting indigenisation of defence equipment production under the Make in India initiative to improve self reliance in the area. <br/><br/>This was stated by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman at the first-ever Defence Industry Meet in Chennai today. <br/><br/>Ms Sitharaman said, the newly introduced Make-2 initiative in Defence procurement will greatly help small Industries to involve themselves in Defence equipment Manufacturing. <br/><br/>She also announced that the globally acclaimed Defence Expo this year will be held in Mahabalipuram near Chennai from 11th to 14th of April with the participation of 80 countries.
