In the Guangzhou Asian Games, India's Deepika Kumari today kept herself in medal contention by advancing to the quarter-finals of the women's individual archery event. Deepika began well by beating Rand Almashhandani of Iraq 5-1 in round one and then piped Indonesia's Erwina Safitri 7-3 in the next round. She will next take on Taipei's Tan Ya Ting, who ousted Deepika's compatriot Rimil in second round. Deepika's compatriot, Rimil Buriuly however bowed out after losing in the second round.Rimil had started on a winning note as she defeated Zahra Dehghanabnavi 4-0 in her opening round but was outplayed byher Taipei rival 2-6.Deepika and Rimil had contributed in fetching India a Bronze medal in the women's team event along with DolaBanerjee on Sunday.
