The deep depression over east central Arabian Sea, which has intensified into a cyclonic storm 'Phyan', lay centred about three hundred kilometers west-South west of Goa and 500 kilometers south-southwest of Mumbai. Met office said, the system is likely to intensify further and move north-north eastwards and cross south Gujarat Coast and North Maharashtra coast between Mahuva and Dahanu by early hours tomorrow. As a result, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Gujarat, Konkon, Goa and Central Maharashtra over the next 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep during this period. Winds and squalls up to 75 kilometers per hour are likely along and off the Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra coasts as well as Lakshdweep over the next two days. Fishermen in these areas have been advised not to venture into the sea.
