Dedicated Eastern Freight Corridor of the Railways connecting Ludhiana in Punjab and Dankuni in West Bengal will be operational in 2019. Addressing the Bharat Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata this afternoon the Railway Minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu said that the Cabinet has approved the revised estimates for the project of 82 thousand crore rupees. He said that tender of 15,000 crore rupees have already been floated and within next 8 months bidding process will be over.<br/><br/>Mr. Prabhu said that the dedicated corridor will help to earn more revenues and the capacity for transporting freights will be increased to 1.5 billion tons. To eliminate corruption in Railway recruitments Mr. Prabhu informed that all examinations in future will be taken on-line.
