The Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh has said that no decision should be taken in haste on the examination pattern as a debate is continuing on the issue. Human resource development ministry had in September announced abolition of compulsory CBSE Board exams for class X from next academic year and introduction of grading system from current year. Dr. Singh along with his wife Gursharan Kaur was interacting with a group of children on the children's day today. He dismissed reports that he was a weak Prime Minister and said that such allegations do not detract his attention from his mission. Asked as to why educating is getting costlier by the day, Dr. Singh said this is so only in private schools. In government schools, every effort is being made to ensure that education did not become a privilege for only the rich.

About the violence in the North East, Dr. Singh said he is aware that the situation particularly in Assam and Manipur was not okay. On why Indians win Nobel prize only after they leave the country, the Prime Minister said in our country there is little scope for the people to think out of box. Dr.Singh recalled the first time he had met Jawaharlal Nehru who had come to the Punjab university for the convocation address.
