Expressing deep anguish over the situation in Seemandhra region, party spokesperson P C Chacko made a fervent appeal to people of the state to give up agitation and refrain from violence.
He said the decision on Telangana is irreversible. He called for creating a congenial atmosphere for holding a dialogue. He added that Central government is fully committed to address all concerns regarding education, employment and sharing of river waters.
The Congress has said, Andhra Pradesh government should invoke Essential Services Maintenance Act, ESMA, if the agitation against carving out a separate state of Telengana continues. Party said, the state government should also take steps to bring normalcy in the state.
Replying to a query, Mr Chacko said TDP and BJP are playing opportunistic politics over the issue.
