Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy has said that a decision on extending the lockdown period in the state would be taken after studying the extent of the Covid-19 spread. He reviewed the situation yesterday in the Secretariat at Fort St George in Chennai. Ministers and officials who are part of the 12 groups formed to coordinate preventive and relief activities participated in the review. Later, talking to reporters, the Chief Minister cautioned that the spread may progress from the prevailing phase two to three, that is community spread, if the lockdown regulations are not followed carefully by the public.<br />'' <br />'' The number of Covid-19 patients in Tamil Nadu surged to 843 as 96 new cases have been confirmed yesterday.<br />'' <br />'' Meanwhile, Union Minister for Communications and IT Ravishankar Prasad and the state Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy launched the Arogya Setu-IVRS Facility on a test basis in the state yesterday.<br />'' <br />'' AIR correspondent reports, the Arogya Setu mobile app is already in operation. But it is mainly for the smartphone users. However, the country has crores of basic feature phone users as well. For their benefit, an innovation has been made by the Madras IIT in coordination with the public sector BSNL to launch the IVRS facility. A caller is to just give a missed call to the number 94999-12345 or send an SMS. It will be automatically directed to the emergency control room of the caller's locality. The officials in the control room will call them back and inquire about the health condition of the caller or his near and dear ones. Based on the inputs from the caller, the health condition would be assessed and immediate assistance will be provided. The assistance includes further guidance or ambulance facility to bring the patient to the hospital for testing and treatment. <br />''  <br />
