The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that no decision should be taken in haste on the examination pattern, as a debate is continuing on the issue. Human Resource Development Ministry had in September announced abolition of compulsory CBSE Board exams for class X from next academic year and introduction of grading system from current year. Dr. Singh, along with his wife Gursharan Kaur, was interacting with a group a children on the Children's Day. Asked as to why education is getting costlier by the day, he said this is so only in private schools. The government schools ensure that education does not become a privilege for only the rich.
