Deaths of newborns in BMC-run Hospital was major point of discussion at Maharashtra assembly

Deaths of four newborns in the last four days in the BMC-run Savitribai Phule Maternity Hospital's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) was the major point of discussion at the Maharashtra assembly on the second day of Winter session.<br />'' <br />''After the opposition's criticism and demand for action against the concerned officers, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde announced the suspension of a medical officer of the hospital and also a high-level inquiry.<br />'' <br />'' Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis in his argument stated the lapses in the functioning child care unit of the said Hospital. He claimed that despite deposits of Rs 50,000 crore and health infrastructure such incidents are happening in BMC-run hospitals in the city.<br />'' <br />'' On the demand of Samajwadi Party member Abu Azmi that five percent educational reservation of the Muslim community, which was accepted by the High Court, be given immediately, the Minister for Minority Development clarified that it was not possible to grant such reservation.
