Death toll rises to 24 in Afghan suicidal attack

In Afghanistan, the death toll in Sunday evening suicide attack in eastern Paktika province has risen to 24. About 60 people were also injured when three suicide bombers attacked a road construction company in Bermal district bordering Pakistan. Interior Ministry spokesman Zamarai Bashary said the bombers shot their way into the firm's compound last night before detonating their explosive – Laden truck. He said most of the victims were civilian laborers and guards protecting the compound. Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement sent to media but claimed that security forces were among those killed and injured. President Hamid Karzai condemned the attack as an unforgivable crime and vowed that it would not deter Afghans from rebuilding their country.
