In Uttar Pradesh death toll in rain related incidents during current spell of heavy rain have reached to 38. The Relief Commissioner of the state has said that 20 persons were died in Jaunpur while 6 deaths are reported from Varanasi district. 10 causalities are reported from badly affected Mirzapur and 2 from Chandauli districts. Dry weather prevailed in most of the regions during last 12 hours giving relief from rainy weather. Several villages in Chandauli and Ghazipur districts are marooned with water of Karmanasha River. Several villages in Sitapur and Badaun districts are still waterlogged. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that the state government has announced an ex-gratia payment of one lakh rupees each to the families of the deceased. PAC and NDRF teams have been alerted and a PAC contingent has been send to Jaunpur and Mirzapur districts. Train services in Mughalsarai and Varanasi stations have also been affected due to the rains.Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Anoop Mishra has reviewed the flood situation in Jaunpur, Sonbhadra and Chandoli districts worst affected during current spell of heavy rain. The government has also sanctioned one crore 82 lakh rupees additional to flood affected estern districts for relief and resecue work.
