In Maharashtra ,the death toll in the road accident at Khalapur on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway has risen to 27. The accident occurred when a speeding tempo rammed into a stationary bus at Khalapur on Mumbai-Pune expressway Sunday midnight .As per AIR correspondent the gruesome accident occurred when a tyre of a passenger bus was punctured and another bus stopped behind it to offer help when a mini truck collided on the later bus from behind. The bus collided on the first bus resulting in the instant death of 18 persons and seriously injuring 9 others who were sitting on the road in between the two buses. Most of the deceased were residents of Yerawada locality of Pune. The injured have been admitted to MGM hospital at Panvel and Sasoon Hospital in Pune. The persons travelling in the ill-fated bus were returning to Pune after attending a wedding in Mumbai. The newly-wed couple was also in the bus and was safe, according to Police
