In Maharashtra, the death toll has risen to four in two separate encounters of the police patrol party with the groups of armed Naxalites in Bhamragad taluka of Gadchiroli district on Thursday morning.According to the information received from the police sources, the first incident took place when the police patrol party carrying out a search operation in the area, was subjected to indiscriminate firing by the armed group of Naxals. The combined Police party comprising the Central Reserve Police Force and State Policemen in turn retaliated. The Commander of the C-60 team Chinna Venta was killed in the encounter and two more policemen were injured in the incident.In yet another police encounter with the armed group of Naxals, which took place later in the morning at Tadgaon in the same taluka, three policemen lost their lives. Several Naxalites are also believed to be killed in the two encounters as per the police sources, but the claim is yet to be substantiated.
