Death toll in Karnataka rains rises to 17, nearly 1,000 displaced

The number of deaths due to rain related incidents since first of this month has gone up to Seventeen in Karnataka. Six deaths are reported from Chitradurga, two each from Tumkur, Mandya and Mysore and one each from Chikballapura, Hassan, Gadag, Dharwad and Uttara Kannada districts. Six Relief camps in Chitradurga district have housed 970 people displaced by rain and flood. Revenue department says more than 13000 houses are damaged, 62 cattles killed due to incessant rain.The infrastructure loss has been put at 70 crore rupees. Rain continued to lash Shimoga district today. Water is released from reservoirs in Linganamakki, Bhadra and Tunga as they are reach their maximum level.
