The death toll in Sunday’s bus accident in Jammu Division has risen to eight with a pregnant woman succumbing to her injuries in the hospital. It may be mentioned that that accident had occurred on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway Sunday morning when a passenger bus from Anantnag to Jammu carrying labourers had skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorgeat Nandni about 40 kms from Jammu. The dead include five children and three women. Twenty seven injured persons have been admitted in Government Medical College, Hospital, Jammu. All the labourers belonged to Bilaspur Chhattisgarh. J&K Minister for Medical Education R.S. Chib visited the Government Medical College and asked the Doctors to provide specialized treatment to the injured. He announced a compensation of 25 thousand rupees each to the next of the kin of the deceased and five thousand each to the injured.
