In Iraq, the death toll of three explosions that took place in northern Iraq’s oil-rich city of Kirkuk on Thursday, has reached 27 with 90 injured. Voice of Iraq news agency quoting medical sources, reports that five police officers including one brigadier rank, one major, one captain and 2 lieutenants, were among those killed in the incident. Kirkuk’s Police Director, Major-General Jamal Taher blamed al-Qaeda for the blasts, which he said, took place to revenge the detention of a number of its commanders. The attack took place in the morning rush hours on Thursday when a sticky bomb attached to a car detonated at a parking lot in front of police headquarters in central the city of Kirkuk. Afterwards, a booby-trapped car parked at the scene went off as Iraqi security forces and dozens of onlookers gathered at the site of the first blast. The third explosion that ripped through the city was targeted against a criminal police patrol.
