Iran’s semi official Press TV says, the death toll in an Iranian passenger plane crash near the northwestern city of Orumiyeh in West Azarbaijan province has risen to 77 while 26 people have been injured in the incident.Head of Iran's State Emergency Centre, Gholam-Reza Masoumi has reported that the IranAir-operated Boeing 727 plane with 105 passengers and crew on board, crashed near Lake Orumiyeh late last evening. It took off from Mehrabad Airport in Tehran and was en route to Orumiyeh International Airport. Injured have been rushed to hospitals in the cities of Orumiyeh and Tabriz. Officials have said that 27 inches of snow and thick fog are hampering the rescue operations. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has offered his condolences to the families of the crash victims.In July 2009, a Russian-made jetliner crashed in northwest Iran shortly after taking off from the capital, killing all 168 on board.
