Death toll in HP bus accident rises to 45

The death toll in the major bus accident today in Chamba in Himachal Pradesh has risen to 45. Six passengers of the 26 injured are said to be in serious condition. They have been admitted to Tanda Medical College Hospital there.

The tragedy occurred, when the overcrowded bus veered off the road and fell into a gorge near Rajera, 8 kms off Champa's district headquarter. The bus was on its way to Chamba from Dulera. Aditional Director General of Police K C Shadyal said 32 people died on the spot. He said, rescue operations are in full swing.

Chief Minister P K Dhumal has expressed grief over the tragedy and directed the local administration to provide
relief to the victims.
