The death toll in the East Delhi building collapse reached 69 after rescue workers recovered two bodies from the debris of the structure. Of the total victims, 17 are children. The building was inhabited by labourers from Bihar and West Bengal .The residents staying in three nearby buildings have been shifted in the make shift camps. The debris is expected to be cleared by Thursday.Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee last night visited the site of the building collapse in East Delhi offered support form her Ministry in transporting the bodies to native places of the victims. Delhi government appointed a one-member judicial commission to probe the incident.The inquiry, to be conducted by former Delhi High Court judge Justice Lokeshwar Prashad, will probe all aspects of the incident including whether there was any procedural, administrative, and statutory lapses that led to the tragedy.The owner of the unauthorised five storey building Amrit Singh who was arrested Tuesday has been remanded to two days judicial custody.The MCD has, meanwhile, asked the occupants of as many as 38 “dangerous” buildings in the East Delhi area to evacuate immediately after a survey it conducted in the area following directions from Delhi Government.
