Death toll in China ferry mishap goes up to 11

Authorities in China say that the death toll in a ferry mishap has gone up to 11 with three people still missing. Nine students and two others drowned last evening when the ferry, carrying mostly students, capsized in the Fuyi River in Hunan Province, about 250 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital, Changsha. The students were on a holiday trip. Local officials said there were around 45 people on board the vessel, when it capsized and sank after it was blocked by iron cables used for dredging. Sixteen people have been injured and 13 others rescued. Police have detained the two owners of the ferry, while authorities to investigate into the mishap.
