In Uttar Pradesh, with the recovery of 12 more bodies from Ganga River today, the death toll in the Ballia boat tragedy has climbed to 62.<br/> <br/>The Deputy Director General of Police Azamgarh Range Mr. Prakash D told AIR Lucknow correspondent this evening that among the dead were 14 girls, 9 boys, 20 women and 19 men and all of them have been identified. He said that search operation has been completed as all of the missing person’s body have been recovered from the river. He said that named FIR against boatman has been lodged for criminal negligence at Haldi police station. He is resident of Badilpur village and absconding after the incident.<br/><br/>The DIG has told that post-mortem of all bodies has been completed and magisterial inquiry has begun. <br/><br/>The incident occurred yesterday when a boat carrying villagers, mainly from four families was proceeding from Ojhawalia ghat to attend a family function on the other side of the river and capsized in the main stream of the river. <br/><br/>The state Governor Mr. BL Joshi, Chief Minister Mayawati and former chief minister Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav have expressed their grief over tragedy. <br/><br/>The State government had announced an ex-gratia of one lakh rupees each to the kin of those killed in the mishap and local administration has started distribution of financial assistance.

Death toll in Balia boat tragedy rises to 62
