In Philippines, the death toll from a tropical storm that struck the southern parts of the country has risen to 44.<br/><br/>Officials today said, nineteen deaths were reported near the town of Tubod on Mindanao island, where Tropical Storm Tembin unleashed flash floods and mudslides that devastated one village.<br/><br/>Police said, eight other people were killed by floods elsewhere in Lanao del Sur province and three each died from landslides in the provinces of Bukidnon and Zamboanga Sibugay.<br/>
