In Uttar Pradesh, two more children have died due to encephalitis at BRD Medical College Hospital of Gorakhpur today. With this, the death toll due to Encephalitis has mounted to 283 since January this year. Our Gorakhpur correspondent quoting heath officials reports that as many as 4 new encephalitis patients have been admitted to BRD Medical College hospital since morning.The BRD Medical College hospital is overflowing with encephalitis patients as over 270 patients hailing from different districts of eastern UP, Bihar and Nepal are being treated here. The principal of the medical college Dr K P Kushwaha says that the number of admissions has increased during past fortninght. The death toll due to encephalitis has exceeded past year’s figure as 268 people had died up till 12th September last year. Intermittent rain, filth and increased mosquito density is said to be reason behind the upsurge of the disease. The vector-borne disease is caused due to mosquito bites and unhygeinic living conditions.
