In Iran, one person have been sentenced to death while eight others were issued punitive Jail sentences by court on charges of involvement in the Ashura day demonstrations in Tehran on 27th December last year.<br/>According to Iranian channel PressTV, the ruling followed two open court sessions in the presence of the detainees' attorneys and a representative of the public prosecutor over the past week. The detainees were charged with threatening the national security and actively propagating against the Islamic establishment. <br/>
