A bill has been introduced in the Rajya Sabha to award death penalty to those involved in hijacking of civilain planes. The Anti-Hijacking (Amendment) Bill 2010,was introduced by Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today in the backdrop of civilian planes being hijacked and used as missiles for causing destructions like what was witnessed in the 9/11 terror strikes.The bill seeks to have a provision to deal with hijacking, making the law more comprehensive and stringent.
