The United Nations Security Council has welcomed the death of Osama bin Laden calling it a critical development in the fight against terrorism. In a rare statement on any unilateral military operation by a member country , the Security Council urged all nations to intensify efforts to bring all sponsors of terrorism to justice. However, while a number of Arab leaders welcomed the killing, in Egypt the Government response was muted as there is some sympathy for Osama bin Laden among some Egyptians.
