<span style="color: black;">The Death Centenary of the great poet and freedom fighter Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiar was observed in Puducherry today.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: black;">At a solemn ceremony arranged at the Bharathi Park, Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and Ministers and other dignitaries paid floral tributes to the Bharathiar Statue.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: black;">Mahakavi Subramania Bharathi is revered in Puducherry as he lived here for more than 11 years. He sought refuge in the French- governed Puducherry to evade possible arrest from the British forces as he was prosecuted on charges of sedition for his writings in the India Magazine.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: black;">From Puducherry, he wrote patriotic songs and other literature to evoke the feelings of the Tamils to rise against the British Rule.</span>
