A sub committee of National Development Council on Urbanisation will meet in New Delhi on Friday to find a way forward to deal issues related to rapid urbanisation. The meeting to be chaired by Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy assumes significance as it is expected to provide vital inputs for the 12th Five Year Plan. The NDC in its last meeting had constituted aSub-committee comprising Chief Ministers of nine states to look into urbanisation issues and explore framework for urban governance including funding for infrastructure.The states included Orissa, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Our correspondent quoting official sources reports, the meeting will look into the challenges of providing infrastructure, finance, governance and management capabilities for the country's rapidly expanding urban areas.
