Deadlock over as member countries strike the deal

Delegates at the climate change summit in Cancun, Mexico appear to have reached a broad agreement, which could eventually lead to significant cuts in green house gases. There have been earlier pessimism that such a deal could be done. Reports say that Japan, China and even the US one by one endorsed the draft. There were objections from Bolivia, which said the deal would be disastrous as it did not do enough to slash emissions with developed countries having pledged cuts big enough to permit a global temperature rise of up to five celsius. Many of the thorniest issues have been left open with lots of work to be done over the coming year.
