Deadlock continues between AI management and agitating pilots

Air India operations remained disrupted for the third day on Monday as the stalemate between the airline's management and the striking pilots continued despite the second round of talks.

At least 40 flights were cancelled across the country as some pilots, majority of them Delhi-based, continued to report sick to protest cut in Productivity-Linked Incentive (PLI). Even as Air India Chairman and Managing Director Arvind Jadhav held talks with the pilots in New Delhi, the pilots remained adamant on their demand that their three months of flying allowance and PLI, which are due, should be paid in full before they resume their duties . Air India spokesman Jitendra Bhargava told AIR that the talks remained inconclusive. The Air India management also decided to stop booking of tickets at its counters.

Meanwhile, the BJP has alleged that the ongoing Air India strike is the result of what they called the mess created by choice by the government and the top management of the airlines. Party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy today urged Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to share details of the situation in the civil aviation sector in the last five years.
