Deadline for Lankan players' return from IPL may be extended

Sri Lankan government has hinted that the deadline for its players' return from the IPL may be extended. Lankan Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that he has received several e-mails from the BCCI and he will meet the selection committee and the Sri Lankan Cricket officials to discuss the matter. He said the Sri Lankan cricketers might be allowed to stay beyond the original May 5 deadline for their tour of England starting 10th of next month. He added that Sri Lanka has good relations with India and he wants to maintain this. Aluthgamage said Sri Lanka is trying to work out new dates for the players.Eleven Sri Lankan players, including Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene who are captaining their respective franchises, are currently in action in the cash-rich IPL.
