In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, District Development Commissioner Anantnag K K Sidha started rainbow trout seed stocking in Nallah Lidder at Pahalgam today in order to replenish the livestock and to augment the fish production.<br />'' <br />''Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that seed stocking in Nallah Lidder would be a watershed to usher a blue revolution in the district for the fact that the district has a huge potential for cold water fisheries besides it would also provide a sustainable means of livelihood for people.<br />'' <br />''He said that the shift towards fish farming is a way towards doubling the farmers income and appealed to the educated youth to come forward and start their fish farms under various credit linked schemes of the Government.<br />'' <br />''The DDC said that during the current fiscal, despite COVID-19 containment restrictions, so far 267 permits stand issued while as on the developmental scenario, about 2.50 lakh seeds have been distributed among private entrepreneurs of fisheries department.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">He said a record trout seed production of 4 lakh from trout hatchery Panzer has been accomplished that shall eventually lead to blue revolution in the district.</span>
