Government has earmarked Rs. 1,209 crore for digitalisation of Doordarshan during the ongoing 11th Plan period. The public broadcaster will not only establish high definition studios but also digitalise all its studio centres around the country. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni informed Lok Sabha in a written reply yesterday .<br/> <br/>The modernisation schemes include work on digitalisation of existing studios, establishment of digital transmitters, replacement and augmentation of old studios, transmitter and satellite broadcast equipment and setting up of high definition (HD) TV facilities.<br/> <br/>Presently, Doordarshan has a total of 66 studio centres spread all over the country and out this, 23 centres are either already digitalised or under the process. The remaining 39 studio centres, which are partially digitalized are planned to be fully digitalised in the 11th Plan. The remaining four studios, which are analog based,are proposed to be digitalised in the 12th Plan.<br/><br/>
