Doordarshan has embarked upon an ambitious programme for digitization of 145 studios. Replying to supplementaries during the question hour in the Rajya Sabha today, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said the modernization programme will be completed in four years.

Sharing concerns of the members over the poor reception of All India Radio over Medium Wave, Mr Tewari said the signal quality has suffered due to obsolescence and AIR has replaced 71 transmission towers. Besides, Government has sanctioned recruitment for 1,150 vacancies to fulfill the Human Resources needs of the Prasar Bharati.
