DBT Scheme: Over 81 lakh families banifited so far

More than 81 lakh families have received over 367 crore rupees subsidy through Direct Benefit Tranfer Scheme for LPG or DBTL so far. Official sources today said the beneficiaries spread across 54 districts in the country. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has set a target to cover 289 districts, almost half the country, under the scheme by January next year.As per the DBTL scheme, cash subsidy for LPG cylinders is transferred directly into the bank accounts of the consumers while the sale happens at the market price.

AIR Correspondent reports, to avail transfer of cash subsidy, Aadhaar number of the LPG consumer has to be linked to the LPG consumer number and bank account of the LPG consumer for which a three-month grace period from the date of launch is being provided. During the period, all consumers continue to get LPG cylinders at subsidized rate. After the grace period, the consumers have to pay for LPG cylinders at market rate.
